April Empties


Well, I know this is a bit late considering May is nearly over. But I forgot to write any blog posts. Oops. I am going to try and write a few posts and publish one each week. That way there will be no silence on here for weeks on end, like there has been.

First up is my skincare empties for April:
  • First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser 56.7g - I did not like this as a face cleanser. But my hands loved it as a hand wash. A nice creamy texture, but it lathers very easily. I will not be buying it again. 
  • La Roche Posay Hydreane Legere moisturiser 40ml - My skin seems to respond so well to this. I've tried other moisturisers but nothing compares. I'll contain to repurchase this. 
  • Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner 190ml - This toner is the best. It's so underestimated. I love it. It contains Niacinamide, a stable form of Vitamin C, Borage Seed Oil and Evening Primrose Oil. My skin looks and feels good after using this. I liked to use this on a morning before I went to work, so I followed it up with a sunscreen due to the ingredients in it. I've already repurchased this. 
  • Pixi Glow Tonic 100ml - My skin doesn't really like Glycolic acid, so I used this up on my feet. I won't be purchasing this again. 
  • SVR Sebiaclear SPF50+ Creme 50ml - My favourite daily SPF. There's no white cast and it's leaves a matte finish. No shiny sunscreen look. It's my HG SPF at the moment. I've already repurchased this. 
  • The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% 30ml - I liked this at first, but every time I went to use it, it would pill off my skin when I applied my moisturiser afterwards. So I finished this up by using it on the scarring on my arms. Which helped fade them a lot faster. I won't repurchase because of the pilling and the founder of Deciem' recent behaviour. 
  • Wilko Oval Cotton Pads - These are my favourite cotton pads for applying certain products. I will always have a pack of these on hand. 
And then we have my body care empties for April:
  • Bioderma Atoderm Huile de Douche 200ml - This is such a lovely product. My skin never felt dry after a shower when I was using this. I'll definitely buy this again ready for Autumn/Winter. 
  • Boots Vitamin D Supplement - These are really good and I do feel like they make a difference to my health. I also live in the UK where we don't get enough sunlight to actually get enough Vitamin D. I will continue to purchase these. 
  • Boots Vitamin B Complex Supplement - These are good. They help me have more energy during the day. I will repurchase these. 
  • Boots Vitamin C and Zinc Supplement - These are good. I do think they help my immune system as I haven't had as many colds as before and minor colds or illnesses are gone more quickly when I use these.  
  • Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief Mouthwash 400ml - This was not a nice mouthwash. It had a strange consistency for a mouthwash, and it felt sort of oily. I didn't want to waste it, so I persevered, but I won't be buying this again.
  • GUM ActiVital Mouthwash 30ml - This had such a weird taste to it. Sort of a medicinal taste. I won't be purchasing this again. 
  • GUM Soft Pick - This was nice but I probably won't purchase a full pack. These are good for when you're on the go. 
  • Lush Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar - This is one of my favourite bubble bars from Lush. It has such a lovely scent, and I will definitely buy more when it's available again. 
  • Lush Metamorphosis Bath Bomb - This was a lovely bath bomb. Such a lovely scent. I will definitely buy it again in the future. 
  • Lush Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb - I love this bath bomb. This is such a lovely scent. I will buy more in the future. 
  • Oral B Sensitive Replacement Head - These are nice and gentle on my teeth. I might repurchase in the future, but I've moved away from using my electric toothbrush as frequently lately.  
  • REN Neroli and Grapefruit Body Cream 50ml - This was nice and light on my skin. And I love the scent. I may purchase it in the future. 
  • The Body Shop Shea Body Scrub 50ml - This is a nice body scrub, and I will buy it again when I want some physical exfoliation on my body. 
And lastly, the un-pictured empties from April:
  • Bio Beaute By Nuxe Anti Pollution Gentle Exfoliating Gel sample - This was way too rough to use on your face. I'm glad I only tried this on my arms. It did emulsify nicely though, but I won't purchase it.
  • DHC Facial Scrub sample - I don't like face scrubs so I used this as a hand scrub. I will not purchase this.  
  • DHC Extra Nighttime Moisture Facial Moisturiser sample - This was nice but it's a bit too rich for my skin. I won't be purchasing this either. 
  • DHC Rich Moisture Facial Moisturiser sample - This was nice and light, and I may buy it in the future to test. 
  • GUM ActiVital Toothpaste 12ml - This had such a vile taste. Blegh. I won't purchase it again. 
  • Lush Plum Snow Bubble Bar - This was an okay scent but I won't purchase it in the future as I got sick of the scent. 
  • Noreva Sensidiane Micellar Milk Cleanser 500ml - This was lovely. I loved this cleanser. This was very gentle and it left my skin soft. I've already repurchased it. 
  • Oskia Nutri-Active Day Cream sample - This was nice and fluid but the smell is a bit off putting, so I won't purchase it. 
  • Oskia Renaissance Brightlight Serum sample -  I only had one use out of this so I can't say whether it had an effect or not. I probably won't purchase it.

In the test queue - REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk

I like to try out new products, but I have to introduce them slowly to try and prevent any major reactions to products. I patch test every new product in the same area, my cheek, chin and nose. My chin and nose are where I experience any breakouts, if I have one. My cheek is where I experience no breakouts, so I test there to see if a new product would cause a breakout in that area, and if it did, the product would be unsuitable for me. I patch test new products for four weeks, to give my skin time to react to the product. I'm currently testing the REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk . Although it's called a cleansing milk, it has much more of a whipped texture, like a cream, more than a milk. I like the pump packaging, it's very efficient. My first impressions of this product were disappointing. I had such high hopes for this product. It sinks in quite quickly once massaged onto the skin, and it comes off easily with a face cloth, but it's just disappointing. ...

In the test queue - Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum

I'm currently testing the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum. I was browsing on YesStyle one day and this brand caught my attention. I've seen people rave about Klairs Supple Preparation Toner but I'd never seen anyone mention any of their other products. I decided to buy this as well as buying the popular Supple Preparation Toner. Klairs describe this as a gentle aqueous serum which helps replenish moisture and soothe the skin. I'm currently loving hydrating products at the minute so I decided to start testing this. My first thoughts are that this has a nice consistency. I've been using this on a night to start with, I may add it into my morning routines once I know it's not going to break me out. This is feels so light and absorbs so easily.
